Superstition is both good and bad in certain ways.
Many cultures, traditions and especially religions of the world wouldn't exist today if there were no superstitious beliefs. The world would've been a boring place. Superstitions helped people understand phenomena which they could not have logically explained, from the early ages till today.
Superstition can also be a curse if it limits a person's power of reasoning. One would not purposely do something which defies one's beliefs. Hence, superstition might not always agree with science or logic, and can prove to be a hindrance to technological development and scientific advances in a modern world.
I believe superstition should be approached with a spirit of understanding and the voice of reasoning. It can be a boon or a curse depending from which perspective one looks at it.
