Supplier relationship management is one of the supply chain macro processes in a firm. As an operations manager, how can supplier relationship management help in avoiding operations risks, such as disruptions and fraud, which are damaging to a firm’s reputation and profitability? Supplier relationship management is important because having a good relation with the supplier ensures continuous flow  off supplies, timely enough so that it does not bring out delays in the supply chain. Also the better this relationship the lesser are the chances of fraud and quality issues.

One such example is of relationship between Samsung and Sony. Sony is supplying LCD screen to Samsung for quite a while and their successful relationship is helping both companies earing repute in the market.

On the other hand, Nokia, once a giant in market didn't pay attention to develop relationship with android software which ultimately became the biggest reason of its decline
