 Given \: sequence \: 16,24,32,40, _

 i) a_{2} - a_{1} = 24 - 16 = 8

 ii) a_{3} - a_{2} = 32 - 24 = 8

 iii) a_{4} - a_{3} = 40 - 32 = 8

 \blue{ a_{2} - a_{1} = a_{3} - a_{2} =a_{4} - a_{3} =8}

 \therefore Given \: sequence \: is \: in \:A.P

 Here, a = 16 , d = 8, \: n = 5

 \boxed{\pink{ n^{th} \:term (a_{n}) = a + (n-1)d }}

 a_{5} = 16 + (5 - 1) \times 8\\= 16 + 4\times 8 \\= 16 + 32 \\= 48

Therefore.,

 \red{ Required \: missing \:term }\green { = 48 }
