suppose a car moves at a speed of 45 km/hr from 1:00 P.M to 3:00 P.M. Then instantly changes the speed to 50 km/hr from 3:00 tp 3:30 P.M. And finally to 60 km/hr from 3:30 P.M to 5:00 P.M. What is the instantaneous speed of the whole trip?

you can total all the miles then divided by the total time.

In this example

5 hrs x 40km/h =200km

3 hrs x 45km/h=135 km

5 hrs x 60km/h =300km

so you traveled a total of (200+135+300)km/(5+3+5)hours
