Let a cyclist in a circular road of radius R with speed v m/s . Coefficient of friction of road is μ. Tnen cyclist will be drive safely in circular road when
mv²/R = fr = μN

In figure shown N = mg
so, mv²/R = μmg
v² = μRg ⇒v = \sqrt{\mu Rg}

So, we can get the conditions under which skidding will occur
(1) speed of cyclist should be high
(2) coefficient of friction should be low or road should be slippery.
(3) Radius of circular road should be small.

Answer:

Skidding will occur (i) if the speed of the cyclist v is very large; (ii) if the radius of the curve r is very small; (iii) if the road is slippery, i.e. the coefficient of friction μ is very small.
