833.33% of the total males in the survey knew how to drive.

GIVEN: A survey was conducted of 500 people.

            40% of them were women.

70% of them knew how to drive.

            100 females could drive.

TO FIND: Males who can drive the car.

SOLUTION:

According to the question,

Several people surveyed = 500.

The percentage that could drive = 70%

The number of people who could drive = 70% of 500.

                                                           = 350 people.

Also, we are given,

100 females could drive.

Therefore,

Male who could drive,

= total number of people who could drive - Females who drive

= 350 - 100

= 250 males.

Therefore, 250 males could drive out of the total people who were surveyed.

Now,

We are given that,

Percentage of females in this group of people that were surveyed = 40%

Implying that,

Percentage of males in this group of people that were surveyed

= 100% - 40%

= 60%

That means,

Number of males = 60/100 * 500

                             = 300 males.

Therefore,

The percentage of males who can drive the car

= number of male car drivers/ total number of males * 100%

= 250/300 * 100

= 250/3 %

= 83.33 %

Therefore, 83.33 % of total car drivers are men.
