Suppose that a major fire broke out in a fireworks factory and soon it spread to nearby areas where there is a filling station, school building and multistorey hospital. What are the types of fire extinguishers you would expect the fire service personnel to carry along with them?

Answer:

In case of any fire disaster we need to search for the cause of the fire. Fire extinguishers can be of different types – water, sand, clay, foam, carbon dioxide etc.

In firework factory, the main fire is metallic fire, caused due to burning of metals.

In case of metallic fire, the metals burn, that too at a very high temperature. Carbon dioxide is not suitable.

In case of electrical fire, water is not suitable. Neither in case of oil fire because oil floats on water. So, carbon dioxide and water is not allowed.
