Body mass index =weight in kg/height in metres²
So bmi=70/1.60*1.60
=70/2.56
=27.34
Criteria for bmi <13 malnourished
14-20 lean
21-23moderate
24-26 normal
26-28 overweight
, 29-34 obese

Given: Weight of individual = 70kg

Height of the individual = 1.60m

To Find: BMI of the individual

Solution:

Body Mass Index(BMI) is a measure of the fat in the body of a person. It is based on the height and weight of the person. After taking out the BMI we can compare it with the standard scale to check if the person is overweight, underweight,  normal, or obese.

The formula for BMI is given as

BMI = Weight in kg / (Height in m)²

BMI = \frac{70}{1.6^{2} }

      = \frac{70}{2.56}

BMI = 27.34

Therefore, the person is overweight.
