Given : probability of a customer buying a Paneer roll at a fast food counter is  0.6; If there are 5 customers already  in line and 2 paneer rolls are already prepared,

To Find  : probability that the customer will have to wait for a Paneer roll

Solution:

probability of a customer buying a Paneer roll at a fast food counter is

0.6;

p = 0.6

q =  1 - 0.6 = 0.4

5 customers already in line

probability that the customer will have to wait for a Paneer roll

if 2 or more customer need paneer roll

= P(2) + P(3) + P(4) + P(5)

= 1 - P(0) - P(1)

P(x) = ⁿCₓpˣqⁿ⁻ˣ

n = 5

= 1 - ⁵C₀(0.6)⁰(0.4)⁵- ⁵C₁(0.6)¹(0.4)⁴

= 1 - (0.4)⁵ -  3(0.4)⁴

= 1 - (0.4)⁴(3.4)

= 1 - 0.08704

= 0.91296

0.91296 is the probability that the customer will have to wait for a Paneer roll
