I was walking on the shore when I suddenly heard someone sobbing. I just stood there too tired to react to my auditory impulses. I sensed that the sobs were growing faint. I turned around started walking in the direction of the sound. I had found the source. It was a young boy who was crying inconsolable. He was around 20 years old, waist deep in water ,slowly inching towards the infinity of the sea.
I tried calling out to him. "Hello there , it is dangerous walking further ,please come back," I screamed. There were no life guards around. I repeated my plea as I threw my bag on the sand and raced closer to him, lest the sea swallowed him. As I waded closer to him. He sensed my presence and turned.
"Go away !" he screamed. He wiped his face and quickened his stride towards the sea. He was still far from where I was and me moving closer would only ensure that he reached his destination sooner.
"Okay ! I wont come closer. But please stop and listen to me ," I screamed.He stopped . He was now chest deep in water ."There is nothing to listen or talk.I don't have to explain myself to a total stranger," he shot back.
"Cool. You don't have to. But don't you think you are too young to literally drown away all your dreams , wishes and hopes ? You are half my age . There is so much more you have to see. I really think you should reconsider," I said as I tried to move closer to him.
"Don't you come closer!" he shouted back. I froze in my spot . "You have no idea what I have gone through. I have seen it all. There is nothing more!" he said choking back his tears.
"Have you ever felt that queer happiness you feel when you love a girl so dearly ,and realize that she loves you just as much ? Have you ever gotten down on your knees and told her how she means the world to you ? Have you felt the high when she says yes? Have you held your little daughter in your arms just minutes after her first cry? Have you felt the the myriad emotions you feel as she clasps her tiny finger around your finger and you make her a silent promise to love her , protect her till your last breathe? Have you felt the hopelessness you feel when all that you have is snatched away from you in the wink of an eye and you are standing amidst the rubble of calamity life left you with? "
"No" , he replied. Pulling me back from my trance. "There is a lot to life little guy " , I continued as I looked into his sad eyes.
"Have you seen meteor shower on a moonless night ? Have you ever heard a flower blossom ? Have you climbed the tallest mountain and etched your name on the rock ? Have you built your own enterprise and seen it drop down like a house of cards ? Have you the picked the remains and started again ? Have you laughed like there was no tomorrow ? Have cried like a baby ? Have you gorged on food with no guilt ? Have you danced like no one was watching and sang like the world was deaf ?Have you ?" , I asked . I saw his face soften. "No" , he replied feebly.
"There is so much more kid , now come back here . This side is where we have it all. The happiness , the sorrow, the disappointment, the fear , the love everything, " I said as I stretched my hand towards him. I saw him stagger towards me and hug me as he broke into tears. "There there , you will be just fine," I said as I led him back to the shore. I picked up my bag and offered to drop him back to his place . He nodded in approval. I held him close as we walked towards his hotel. We walked in silence. When we reached the gate I handed him my card."You ever feel lonely , sad or down, just give a call or drop me a mail!"
"Thank you " , he said as we shook hands. "There was a girl and a startup. Both felt I wasn't good enough." , he said ruffling his hair and looking at a distance. "Then it is time to show them both how wrong they were. You will do great kid ! I can see it in your eyes. So you better be up and kicking!", I said .
"I will. I will. I will even send you a mail each week and tell you how well I have

i was coming back from the art gallery after buying rita her favourite painting . it was a surprise for her birthday. it was raining heavily. it was dark and suddenly ii could hear some men surround me up but then out of no where a car came and that was none other than my teacher Ms.geeta who told me to get in . she dropped me home. saving me from the men. and at last me and my painting both were safe. alas!
