Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered" during its motion.

Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is". it is the object's overall change in position

From the above diagrams we can see that the net change in position of path 1 and 3 is different than the net distance traveled. while for path 2 distance and displacement are same.

Hence in option (D) Path 1 and Path 3 distance traveled be different than the displacement.
