suppose there is a fire but the causd of the fire is not known. What would be the best way to put out the fire?

Well it depends on due to what fire was caused.
If it is caused due to electricity or oil then we have to pour dry baking soda or sand.
If other sources then water is fine depending upon how large the fire is

Use Fire Extinguisher
as using water might react with source and increase fire
fire extinguisher contains CO2 which is non polar and don't react easily
