Suppose we have 0.2360, here we have 4 significant figures but if we change the unit so that it is written as 236 × 10^-3 then the significant figures are only 3, but as we all know, s.f don't change on changing the units. Plz help

significant figures can change when the numbers are represented in different forms,in different units

this is the reason why we use the decimal notation like u have done in the second example 236 × 10⁻³

because 0s after decimals do not cause trouble in this form

but the correct representation would be

2.36*10⁻²
