The graph between 1/x and 1/y will be a straight line.

Given:

Suppose 'x' and 'y' are the distance of object and image respectively from the mirror.

To Find:

The shape of graph between 1/x and 1/y for concave mirror.

Solution:

Mirror Formula = \frac{1}{v} + \frac{1}{ u} = \frac{1}{f}

where,

u = Object distance

v = Image distance

f = focal length

According to the given part

u = 1/x

v = 1/y

Putting in the mirror formula,

y + x = \frac{1}{f}

Comparing it with eq of a straight line y = mx + c

Therefore, the graph between 1/x and 1/y will be a straight line.
