The Britishers tempted people to convert into Christianity by offering them government jobs and lands.

  • The mass conversion of people into Christianity was a result of upheaval of 1857. However, none of the promises were made and the British went on exploiting people further.
  • The teaching of Christian doctrines was made compulsory in the schools set up by Christian missionaries. The Bible had been taught in all institutions, including public schools.
  • Christianity was also taught in prisons. The officers taught Christianity openly in temples and mosques as well.
  • This mindset later generated fear in people's minds of being converted into Christianity.
