we know that
gravitation force = GMm/r^2. (at the surface of the earth)
F = GMm/r^2
now gravitational force at point which is at the distance of 2R from the center or Earth will be
F' = GMm/(2R)^2
F' = GMm/4R^2
F' = [GMm/R^2] × 1/4
F' = F/4
so the appearant weight at this distance will be 1/4 th of the weight at the surface of earth.
