The Swedish teenager and a climate activist, Greta Thunberg, finds herself stuck in her home because of the pandemic restrictions. In her quick chit-chat with us, she tells us all about her campaign and how she's using the ongoing lockdown period.
Q: When did you start campaigning?
A: In May 2018, aged 15, I won a climate change essay competition in a local newspaper. Three months later, in August, I started protesting in front of the Swedish parliament building, vowing to continue until the Swedish government met the carbon emissions target agreed by world leaders in Paris, in 2015.
Q: What do you want?
A: Initially, I protested on the Swedish government's climate targets. but, now I focus the governments around the world to do more to cut global emissions.
Q: What would be your advice to the youngsters?
A: Do not care about your age nor the knowledge you have on the science. join hands together, let us all stand as one and fight against climate change.
Q: How have you been keeping yourself occupied during the lockdown?
A: I have been reading science books which related to climate ever science the day the lockdown started. Planning some future goals and working on strategies which could help me to attain the goals.
Q: what is the positive impact you see on this lockdown?
A:The lockdown has sent people indoors. But, bestowed the city with fresh air, clear waterways and beautiful sunsets.
Q: What do you expect from global people to do post pandemic?
A: Now the world is slowly regaining its beauty. If this situation persist, we will definitely stop the climate changes. So, request people to keep in mind that and act accordingly.
