Explanation:

The Ganges is the most important river of this region. It rises in the Gangotri glacier and moves through its path with flowing though 280 km it reaches Haridwar. The total length of Ganga is 2525 km.

Near Farakha it is not known as Ganga River and it splits into two tributaries Bhagirathi-Hooghly and Padma before flowing into the Bay of Bengal. The Padma River receives the water from Brahmaputra River which is called the Jamuna and Meghna rivers.
