The reactions for staying alone at home depends on the conditions and the age of the person. As for me, staying alone at home is fine as long as it's not during rainy seasons.
Rainy seasons make it more gloomy to be left alone. Besides, it is not possible to hear or see what is happening in the streets if it's raining too much. But on normal days, I can easily see the people walking by, observing them and just simply enjoying the view.
One instance I was left alone was when I had my exams coming up and so could't accompany my family for the wedding in another state. I also did not mind being at home for it will give me a chance to study by myself and give a chance to my parents, specially my mom to be outside for once. So, telling them to go, I stayed behind. It was a good time, I did everything by myself and even cooked my own food. Then when they came back, my mom was so impressed with me that I have managed to do everything without asking for her help. That was the best outcome of the whole situation.
