Mitosis can be studied using onion root tip.

Section the root tip and add Giemsa stain .

Observe under microscope.

The number of chromosomes can be counted easily in a metaphase stage where the chromosomes are highly condensed and aligned in the equatorial plane.

To count the number of chromosomes, the step need to be observed is Metaphase.

EXPLANATION:

If we supplied with onion root to observe steps in cell division then the process by which the cell division is occurred is called Mitosis. In the mitosis process in the Metaphase stage chromosomes became more shorter and prominent and more tightly coiled so we can count the number of the chromosomes.

Mitosis is the process by which the old cell is placed by the new cells. The organism are made by the cell and these cells are replaced by the process of mitosis.
