I would consult the old books for information. Also, the books from partition writers as Sadaat Hassan Manto, Rajinder Singh Bedi, Amrita Pritam would be a great help.
I would consider consulting the books from William Dalrymple and books on Orientalism by Edward Said too.
These are the books that I believe will be great help while chronicling the history of last 100 years of my country.
