Core type step down transformer are generally used in Mobile charger.
As core type transformer give better heat dissipation and low in cost.
And charger require 12V DC thus transformer step down the voltage and bridge rectifier convert AC to DC.
Right now we use dropping capacitor instead of transformer.
As it step down the voltage upto 48V and provide current limiting reactance.
