Observation

A precipitate of yellow colour forms and settle down at the bottom of the container.

The new compound formed is Lead Iodide

\rule{200}2

i) The skeletal chemical equation of this reaction is

\sf Pb(NO_3)_2 + KI \rightarrow KNO_3 + PbI_2

The balanced chemical equation for this reaction would be

\sf Pb(NO_3)_2(aq) + 2KI (aq) \rightarrow 2KNO_3(aq) + PbI_2(s)

ii) Since there is an exchange in cations, or the metals are displacing each other in their salt solution, the reaction is Double Displacement Reaction. Also, since there is precipitate formation, it is Precipitation Reaction also.
