Concept:

Unitary method is a way for solving a particular problem by first calculating the value of a single unit, and then finding the necessary value by multiplying the single unit value.\

Given:

Suresh can finish a work in 15 hours.

Ashutosh can finish the work alone in 10 hours .

Find:

Number of hours required to complete the work by Ashutosh.

Solution:

Suresh's 1 hour's work = 1/ 15 units

Ashutosh's 1 hour's work = 1/ 10 units

Suresh's 9 hours' work

= 9 × 1/ 15 = 3/ 5 units

remaining work = 1 - ( 3/ 5)

= 2/ 5 units

Ashutosh will finish the remaining work in

= (2/ 5) ÷ (1/10)

= 20 ÷ 5 = 4 hours

Therefore, Ashutosh will finish the remaining work in 4 hours.
