Given :- Suresh, David and Jai completed a work together in 36 days and received a total payment of Rs 54000. Suresh took half of the total money, David took one third and Jai took remaining. In how many days, Suresh and Jai would have completed the work. ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • payment is distributed among workers in the ratio of their efficiency .

so,

→ Suresh took Money = (1/2)

→ David took = (1/3)

→ Jai took = 1 - (1/2 + 1/3) = 1 - (3 + 2)/6 = 1 - (5/6) = (1/6)

then,

→ Efficiency ratio of Suresh : David : Jai = (1/2) : (1/3) : (1/6) = (3 : 2 : 1)/6 = 3 : 2 : 1 .

therefore,

→ Total work = (3 + 2 + 1) * 36 = 6 * 36 = 216 units .

hence,

→ Time taken by (Suresh + Jai) = Total work / (Efficiency of suresh + jai) = 216/4 = 54 days. (Ans.)
