Suresh is having a garden near Delhi. In the graden there are different types of tress and flower plants. One day due to heavy rain and storm one of the trees got broken as shown in fig..

The height of the unbroken part is 15m and the broken part of the tree has fallen at 20m away from the base of the tree.
a) What is the length of the broken part?
(i)15m (ii)20m (iii)25m (iv)30m
b) What was the height of the full tree?
(i)40m (ii)50m (iii)35m (iv)30m
c) In the formed right angled triangle what is the length of
the hypotenuse?
(i)15m (ii)20m (iii)25m (iv)10m
d) What is the area of the formed right angled triangle?
(i)100m2 (ii)200m2 (iii)60m2 (iv)150m2

a) the length of the broken part can be figured out by the pythagoras theoram-

a^{2} + b^{2} = c^{2}

so, suppose the length of the broken part is x

15 square +20 square = x square

= 225 + 400 = x  square

thus, x square = 625

hence, x= sqrt of 625

therefore x= 25m

b) the heinght of the full tree is 15+ 25= 40m

c) the length of the hypotenuse is 25m

d) the area of the triangle= (15*20)/4 = 300/4 = 75m sq.
