Suresh, Ramesh and Sagar are all apple farmers who pool their crop each year to make cider. For this year’s harvest, Ramesh supplied three times as many apples as Sagar, and Suresh supplied twice as many apples as Ramesh. If the total number of apples supplied is 900 tonnes, how many did each of them contribute?

\sf\underline{Step-by-step \: explanation}

Let the share of Sagar be x

Then Ramesh's share = 3x

Suresh = 2(3x) = 6x [As he had done 3 times of Ramesh

According to the question,

Sagar + Ramesh + Suresh = 900 tonnes

x + 3x + 6x = 900 tonnes

10 x = 900 tonnes

x = 90 tonnes

Hence, Sagar contributed 90 tonnes

[x = 90 tonnes]

Ramesh Contributed 270 tonnes

[3x = 3 × 90 = 270 tonnes]

Suresh contributed 540 tonnes

[6x = 6 × 90 = 540 tonnes]
