Answer:

Given :-

  • Surojitbabu sold a shawl at Rs 660 . By selling that shawl surojitbabu had made as much profit , as that he would have lost if he would sell it at Rs 640 .

To Find :-

  • how much money surojitbabu paid to buy the shawl .

Solution :-

Let us suppose , selling at Rs 660 the profit surojitbabu would be Rs x

The CP of that shawl is = Rs ( 660 - x )

Again , by selling at Rs 640, the loss would be Rs x

∴We have got the CP of shawl is Rs ( 640+ x )

∴According to the condition ,

= 660 - x = 640 + x

= - x - x = 640 - 660

= - 2x = - 20

∴x = 10

∴Surojitbabu bought the shawl at Rs ( 660 - 10 ) = Rs 650
