Survival of the fittest essentially means that the fittest or the most equipped are most likely to survive or thrive in their environment. I am not so sure about what your question is but in reference to elephants i can say [type] that the elephants we see today are the most recent forms of the probosciedean the earliest of the elephant species. We can also see the differences among the mammoth and the elephant of today mainly in size, skin and tusks. Even today there are differences among elephants like the african elephant and the indian elephant. In a way of typing elephants do face a lot of trouble or problems even in our country. Massive disposition of them from their habitat has led them to closer to man and we know how humans are with massive animals. Elephants are harmless to an extent but they turn out to be more aggressive when disturbed which is same for almost any living thing with a rudimentary sense of consciousness. Thus we should always remember that we are not the only ones in this ecosystem and overuse of shared resources will lead to our own disaster. Try thinking about others for a change.

[P.S.you should really write your own articles from now on]

Thank you.
