Samy and Susie were fairies. They lived in the fairyland. Susie happened to visit the earth.
She came back with tales of the human civilization.
"Oh! They have schools for children where they study books. The children have so much to
do. They read, write, draw and colour to become better and better, day by day. What do we
do the whole day long? Nothing! Oh! Nothing at all. Everything is so easy with the
magic wand."
So, Samy and Susie went to the Fairy Godmother and told her that they wanted to visit the
human world. Fairy Godmother was shocked to hear this. But she said, "I will take you to
the earth and you will see how difficult life is over there."
The next morning, Fairy Godmother took Susie and Samy to a home where they did the
vanishing act. They could see everybody but nobody could see them. In this house lived
Mrs. And Mr. Mag and their son (Chan, a boy of 12 years. He could manage all his school
work without taking any help from his mother who worked in an office. He would come
home, warm up the delicious meal cooked by his mother, have it and rest for a while. Then
it was tennis, swimming and studies. But one day, the fairies heard him say, "Oh! Mummy.1
wish I had a magic wand to do my homework, to teach me everything by uttering a magic
spell. Life in the fairyland must be so easy.
To this his mother replied, "But that life is not interesting. Everything comes to you easily.
When you work hard you get rewards, every achievement makes you so proud and happy."
To this the boy replied, "I guess you are right. We are best fitted into our lives and we
should not crave for what we don't have.
