surya works 3 times as fast as ramya and is able to complete a work in 40 days less than the number of days taken by ramya .find the time in which they can complete the work together.

Suppose,

Surya = x , Ramya = y

Let say y does the work in Y days so that X can do that in Y - 40

x = y - 40

3x = y

(1/X + 1/Y) * T = 1

x = 20 days

y = 60 days

T = 15 days

So the time they'd both take to complete the work together would be 15 days.
