Let the age of Sushil be h, and the age of Sunil be n.

Now we convert the question into algebraic expressions:

"Sushil is now 4 times as old as Sunil."

h = 4n

"5 years ago Sushil was 7 times as old as Sunil was then."

5 years ago Sushil's age would be (h-5), Sunil's age would be (n-5).

h-5 = 7 x (n-5)

h-5 = 7n-35

From the previous statement we know that h = 4n, so we replace h in this equation with 4n to get an equation with only one variable:

(4n)-5 = 7n-35

35-5 = 7n-4n

30 = 3n

n=10

And since we know that h = 4n, h = 40.

So Sushil is now 40 years old and Sunil is 10 years old.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask me anything that you don't understand~

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of Sushil be h, and the age of Sunil be n.

Now we convert the question into algebraic expressions:

"Sushil is now 4 times as old as Sunil."

h = 4n

30 = 3n

n=10

⭐And since we know that h = 4n, h = 40.

⭐So Sushil is now 40 years old and Sunil is 10 years old.
