sushma bought a saree from the mall .she paid rs.2640 for it.when she came home shemeasured the length of the saree & found that the saree was half metre less in length than what the shopkeper had told her. She found that she is at a loss of rs. 220 because of this. what is the length of the saree she brought home?

Let x be the original length of the saree.
When she brought the saree home it was 0.5 metre less that is (x-0.5)
Loss of rs220
For x length of saree she paid rs2640
x=>2640 (1)
x-0.5=>2640-220 (2)
Adding (1) and (2)
2x-0.5=>5060
2x=5060.5
x=2530.25
The length of saree she brought home is
x-0.5 = 2530.25-0.5=2529. 75 m
