Sushma bought some apples and oranges. The oranges were 12 more than the apples. If the total number of fruits were 78, how many apples did she buy?

Let the number of apples be x
Then number of oranges = 12+x
Total number of fruits = 78
So,
x + x + 12 = 78
2x = 78-12
2x = 66
x = 33
So, number of apples = 33
And number of oranges = 45
