sustainable development means improving our quality of life without damaging the quality of life of future generation.
for example-
overuse of soil has caused infertility in many areas .similarly widespread deforestation and killing of birds and animals have endangered many plants and animal species .As result some of them have become extinct that is lost forever .the quality of air, water and land resources have also been affected badly due to misuse or overuse of resources .if sincere attempts are not made by every individual to stop the misuse of these resources ,all of them can not last long .
I hope it will helps you.

Hi there,
The answer to your question is following;
‘Sustainable Development is a crucial step for the development of a country’because it includes natural resources such as petroleum, coal and etc which must be conserved for the country's betterment. It will help us in saving our present along with the future of coming generations. In order to keep the development sustained, natural resources must be utilized intelligently.
If these resources are exhausted or kept un utilized, the development of a country might become stagnant.
I hope the answer is helpful.
