Sustainable Development is the peace policy of the future

Explanation:

  • The village of Sukhomajri in Haryana was very poor. In the late 1970s, it began to lift itself out of its trough, allowing a startling increase of development based on the re-generation of its natural resources-trees and water-in the next decades. It was effective since it had autonomy and the right to make decisions as a village institution.
  • Sukhomajri was an isolated example of growth in the 1980s in a village in Panchkula district of Haryana. The path that made it the first Indian village to pay income tax  - "from the roots of poverty to wealth" has influenced the world. The achievement in the management of his ecological resources was behind this amazing tale by setting up Hill Resource Managing Society, a strong unified village institution (rms).
  • In the year 1985, Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh came into the limelight following reports of food riots in Jhabua. The problem was related to the ecology. More than a decade later, Jhabua's ecology has re-generated via a govt-sponsored but "people-managed watershed development program"
  • Hence, we can say that "sustainable Development is the peace policy of the future". However, without effective people's participation". these programs would not have brought eco-regeneration & improvement in the socio-economic condition of the people. Hence, from the above , we can say that If citizens will add their local resources and practices to the transition process, development can be both sustainable and accelerated.
