Answer:

For growth, the problem of sustainability is relevant because It demands that resource reserves, including exhaustible natural and environmental resources, be maintained. Recent studies suggest that because of overuse, groundwater in India is exhausted. Its groundwater supplies are overused by 1/3 of the population.

Question :-

Examine the statement, sustainable should be at the core of the developmental activities.

Answer :-

Sustainable development should be at the core of the developmental activity as it focuses on both current and future needs.

  • It is growth which fulfills the current demands instead of losing the potential of future ages to fulfill their demands.

  • It refers to the three main economic, ecological and human components of human life and should be at core of development as -

1. Essential for future generation requirement - A judicious use of non-renewable sources must be practiced. Such resources need special care as they can not be renewed. Dependency should be minimised on non-renewable sources.

2. Proper use and resource usage reduction - It takes care of future needs and may sustain the environment which in return fosters development.

3. Overcoming acute shortage/ deficiency of resources - By investing in alternative sources of energy, the deficiency can be overcome to some extent. Overcoming of shortage will led to availability of resources useful for development.
