Answer:

The following are the steps that can be taken to increase ground water level :

i.) There can be a shift from ground water resources to surface water resources. This will reduce the depletion of ground water level at a faster pace. Thus ground water can be used for later purposes.

ii.) There can be a recharge of ground water. The rain water harvesting works in a similar way. Rain water can be used to replenish ground water. This will increase the ground water level.

iii.) Increasing vegetation can increase the ground water level. This is because more is the vegetation level, more is the absorption of water from surface. This will eventually increase the ground water level.

iv.) Ground water level can also be increased by recharging ground wells, embankments traps, etc. As water gets trapped in these bunds, will get automatically absorbed in the ground, increasing ground water resources.

v.) Ground water resources play a important role as the source of water body. Roads and land play a important role in increasing the ground water level. Surfaced or cemented roads do not provide penetration of water in the ground. Whereas muddy road or unsurfaced road can easily absorb the water. Also same can be taken not only for roads, but for all types of land. Hence unsurfaced land's utilisation as ground water of rain water is much more. Thus this can contribute in increasing ground water level.
