Given : Suyash scored 10 marks more in second test than that in the first.

5 times the score of the second test is the same as square of the score in the first test.

To Find : score in the first test.

Solution:

score in the first test.  = M

Score in second test = M + 10

5 times the score of the second test is the same as square of the score in the first test.

=> M² = 5(M + 10)

=> M² - 5M  - 50 = 0

=> M² - 10M + 5M - 50 = 0

=> M(M - 10) + 5(M - 10) = 0

=> ( M + 5)(M - 10) = 0

=> M = - 5 ,  M = 10

Ignoring the negative marks

Hence score in the first test = 10   Marks
