                                            Pure Water Pure India

Water is life! If there were no water, there would be no life! Just imagine what damage to life will happen if the very source of life is impure! In order to live a pure life, pure water is the first prerequisite. Unless we have pure life, growth, prosperity, development, and advancement is unachievable.

Pure water is the base for economic development and prosperity. Only pure water ensures health of people. And only healthy people can contribute optimally in the national development. Pure water also ensures healthy aquatic life.  A majority of people consume sea-food. If the sea water is not pure, it may make the sea-food toxic which may further affect the heath of people. So, pure water is a must for pure India.

In spite of the indispensability of water in our life, our attitude to water is pathetic. We have been abusing its divinity! We have made it scarce. The main factors leading to the water pollution is the improper management and unwise consumption of water resources in the country. We must manage our water resources wisely.

The root cause of the loss of purity of water is MAN. Man’s selfish use of nature and its resources has caused all this environmental havoc. Man’s incomplete perception of nature, its laws and carelessness to know more and do better have caused such an uncontrollable vicious circle of environmental issues that now he finds himself unable to make any breakthrough in the direction of stopping this vicious-circle and then reversing it.

A forest never deforested itself. Rivers, oceans and lakes didn’t pollute themselves. Air never ever emitted toxic gases or other particulates into their own purity. Ozone layer didn’t inflict its own depletion on itself. Animal and Plants species standing on the verge of extinction didn’t do large-scale hara-kiri. Mountains of garbage lying unheeded and untreated in the cities didn’t pile up on their own.

There is only one common and same impurity causing agent in all the environmental issues cited above and that abominable and hellish agent is Man’s ignorance and carelessness. Add to this his greed, parochial outlook of life in general and infinite perfect laws that govern it. All these environmental issues need to be looked at from this perspective. Man’s Ignorance, selfishness and his inability to know, understand and use nature and its resources wisely are the root causes of all these environmental issues.

So it is our responsibility to conserve this life nectar. It is possible only through by changing our outlook towards this wonderful natural resource. We must ensure there is no pollution of water bodies by dumping any waste such as, sewage, effluents, and other toxic substances. The people and the government must ensure installation of effluents and smoke treatment plants at industrial, garbage, and sewage units. The environment officers must do their duties conscientiously. Those who violate the environmental preservation rules and regulations must be punished. By being the proactive stewards of this rare life-supporting element can we preserve and conserve it.
