He believed & proved that in our Vedas there was no such thing as Untouchability . He & through his Arya Samaj succeeded in launching a Great movement against Untouchability which was followed up & taken up by Gandhiji & Congress in a BIG way during our Freedom struggle & post -independence

Swami Dayanand contributed in the following ways towards the progress and development of India:-

  • He had immensely supported in the development of 'Gurukuls' to spread the teachings of Vedas. He was strongly moved by the fact that lack of knowledge is the main cause of the backwardness of the society.
  • He laid the formation of 'Arya Samaj' in 1875 in order to remove fictitious beliefs from Hindus.
  • He was strongly against the caste system and perceived untouchability as a curse to the Indian society.
