1. Firstly, in Indirect Speech all the inverted commas are removed.

2. Said is replaced by asked, ordered, told, requested etc, according to the type of question.

3. "that" is added after told and mostly in case of assertive sentences, in case of a question like here, If or Whether is used.

4. The Sentence changes to past tense.
