Swami Vivekananda was born as Narendra Nath in Calcutta
on 12 January, 1863.As he grew up his mind was continually
filled with questions about God. After meeting his spiritual
teacher, Shri Ramakrishna, he was seized by a desire to
become a monk. He travelled extensively through India to see
how the people lived. He was pained to see the abject poverty
of Indian people. He was shocked to see the condition of rural
India.
Vivekananda determined to solve the problems of the people.
He met lawyers, teachers, journalists and Government officials
and impressed upon everybody the need to mobilize the
people. This meant getting everyone to contribute towards
helping the poor in whatever capacity they could. He knew
about the past glory of India and now India’s revival became
his mission in life. He realised that India could rise only when
there was a cleansing of society, that is, it had to be freed from
the superstition, hypocrisy and falsehood that had enveloped
it in the name of religion. For this the whole nation had to be infused with the ideal of service of man as the true worship of
God.
Later Vivekananda travelled and lectured across America and
Europe. During his tour he made many friends and disciples.
One disciple was a lady from England, Margaret Noble, who
was later known as Sister Nivedita. She followed him to India
and became a sanyasin, devoting herself completely to the
service of India. -------------Guys please help me find a word from this essay which means HOPELESS
