Swaraj means different things to different people. They thought Swaraj as a time when all suffering and all travel would be over.

For local leader of awadh, swaraj means no payment of tax and redistribution of land among poor.

For tribal peasants of Gudem Hills of Andhra Pradesh , swaraj meant liberation only by the use of of force as Alluri Sitaram instructed.

For plantation workers in Assam Swaraj meant right to move freely in or out of confined space in which they were enclosed. ( In other words , Swaraj means retain a link with the village from which they had come. )
