Tooth decay leads because the bacteria present in our mouth degrades the sugar and food left in our mouth after eating and converts it into acid.

Toothpaste is a base and it neutralise the acid present in our mouth. So we should brush brush our teeth regularly to avoid tooth decay.

Sweet food contains suger which remains on tooth. These suger used by bacteria within the plaque and they release acid etc as waste material, now these acid act on tooth and cause tooth decay.

Toothpaste is basic in nature therefore it help in neutralising the acid on tooth so by this way using toothpaste time to time helping in preventing the acid to cause tooth decay.
