Whenever you eat something sweet the food particles get stuck between your teeth . So the bacteria present in your mouth reacts with the food particles and produces acid which corrodes the tooth enamel . So to prevent the tooth decay we use a toothpaste that acts like a base and neutralizes the acid produced , thus preventing tooth decay .
