Sweet tooth is defined as liking of food which is sweeter in taste. The role played by sweet tooth in tooth decay is simple. When you eat a lot of sugary stuff which is carbohydrates mainly, the small particles that stuck in between teeth create a hot bed for the microbes to grow that resides in your mouth. These bacteria break down the enamel of teeth and cause cavities.

Toothpaste prevents from teeth cavities by protecting the teeth outer layer called enamel. Toothpastes which are rich in fluoride seem to be more beneficial against cavities.

Answer: Acid is produced by degradation of left out food particles or sugars in the mouth. This acid attacks the enamel on the teeth. To remove the excess acid in the mouth, we brush our teeth with tooth paste which is alkaline in nature.
