Let the number of year be x year ago, when sweety’s Mother age was 3 times of sweety's age

sweety's age x years ago = (54-x) Years

sweety's Mother age x years ago = (80-x) Years

So writing it in equation form:

(80-x) = 3(54-x)

80-x = 162–3x

3x-x = 162–80

2x = 82

x =41

So sweety's age x years ago = (54–41) Years = 13 Years

sweety's Mother age x years ago = (80–41) Years = 39 Years

It was 41 years ago when sweety's Mother age was 3 times of sweety's age

Hence

• 3(54 - x) = 80 -nx
• 162 - 3x = 80 - x
• 162 - 80 = 3x -nx
• 82 = 2x
• x = 41

So , 41 years ago,

• Mothers age is 3 times of Sally's age.

When Sally's age was 13 yrs (54-41)

• Her mom age was 39 yrs (80-41)
