- Inflammation index is used to determine the inflammatory dose of a given raw material.
- When a medicine is immersed in water in a measuring cylinder it swells after a while by absorbing it.
- Measurement cylinder, lid, filtered water, spatula, weight balance, and sample of raw material.
- Procedure: Weight of about 1 gm of a given sample of raw material.
- Transfer the sample to a 25 ml measuring cylinder and fill the 20 ml mark with distilled water.
- Place a clean, dry, 25 ml cylinder on a tarred scale.
- Record the weight of the graduated cylinder (g), in data.
- Fill the completed cylinder with 5.0 ml of distilled water; use a short stem pipe to help measure exactly 5.0 ml of water.
- Record the volume in the Data Table.
