The word panic is made up of two syllables and it should be written as pa-nik.

Syllabification is the process of dividing a word into sound units containing a vowel sound and usually one or more consonant sounds.

Syllabification depends upon pronunciation of a word; spelling of a word are not used as criterion during syllabification.
